finding your own funding for a PhD
These programmes fund PhD students every year. If one fits you, get in touch well before the deadline: most need a supervisor’s support when you apply.
- College of Science and Engineering Graduate School Scholarship (University of Glasgow). Covers full tuition fees and a stipend at the UKRI rate, in any research area of the College. You need a supervisor’s support before you apply. Applications are due by 31 January. [details]
- DiveIn Centre for Doctoral Training (EPSRC, University of Glasgow). A fully funded, four-year interdisciplinary PhD programme. Students join a cohort without a set project, and form their project and supervisory team during the programme. Our work fits best with its Planetary Health research area. [details]
- IAPETUS and ExaGEO (NERC doctoral training programmes). Both run a studentship competition every year, with new projects posted each autumn. [IAPETUS] | [ExaGEO]
